By default Siri uses your first name to speak to you. You can tell Siri, however, that she should use a nickname, or manually add one. You can also correct the way Siri makes a name.

Method 1 The name with which Siri addresses you

1. Create your personal contact information. Siri calls you, whatever name you have listed as your name in your personal contact. You may not have set up this information, but you can add it by using the Settings app.

  • Open the Settings app and select "Mail, Contacts, Calendar".
  • Scroll down and tap "My Info."
  • Choose your personal contact, or create one if you do not have one.

2. Change your personal contact to change the name Siri uses.

  • Open the Contacts app.
  • Select your personal contact, then tap Edit.
  • Change the name to whatever Siri calls you.

3. Tell Siri to address you with a nickname. You can call Siri with another name, if you want.

  • Open Siri by holding down the Home button.
  • Say: "Name me from now on name." Siri confirms you the new name, which changes it "nickname" input in your personal contact.

Method 2 Correct siris pronunciation

1. Open the Contacts app. If siri misrepresents your name, or the name of a contact, you can change the pronunciation.

2. Scroll down and tap "Add Field. " This allows you to select a new field to add to the contact.

3. Select "first name (pronunciation)". You can use this to change the pronunciation of the contact's first name. You can also choose "2. First name (pronunciation)" or "Last name (pronunciation)" if you need to change the pronunciation of one of these two.

4. Enter the phonetic spelling of the name. Enter the name so that Siri pronounces it correctly. For example, you can write "Margot" as "Margoh".

warnings

It's better to say "From now ..." before you tell Siri to approach you with a certain name. Otherwise it could be understood as a request to call someone in your contact list.
