AirPlay is an iOS feature that allows you to stream wirelessly from your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to an Apple TV or AirPlay-compatible speaker. To use AirPlay, you must connect your iOS device and AirPlay device to the same network, and then enable the AirPlay feature in the Control Center.

Activate AirPlay

1. Make sure your iOS device supports the AirPlay function. AirPlay is only available on the iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPad Mini and iPod Touch 4G or newer.
  • If you want to use AirPlay with an Apple TV, you need to have an iPhone 4S or newer, iPad 2 or newer or an iPod Touch 5G or newer.
2. Make sure you have AirPlay compatible devices that can stream content to AirPlay. You must have an Apple TV 2G or 3G to stream photos and videos, or an Apple TV, AirPort Express, or AirPlay-enabled speakers to stream music.

3. Make sure your iOS device and AirPlay device are connected to the same wireless network. The AirPlay function only works when both devices are on the same wireless network.

4. Wipe your iOS device screen from bottom to top. This opens the Control Center.
  • If you want to use AirPlay over iTunes, click the "Monitor" icon to the right of the volume control in iTunes and select the AirPlay device you want to stream music with.

5. Tap "AirPlay", then click the name of the device you want to stream to. The two devices are now connected.
  • If you are using an Apple TV, go to "Preferences" on your Apple TV and select "AirPlay" to enable the AirPlay feature.

6. Go to the photos, videos, or music that you want to stream to the AirPlay-compatible device, and select the option to view or play the content. Your media content will now be played on the AirPlay compatible device
